Squash Ladies' Night

Enjoying a good squash session with only ladies; that's our Squash Ladies Night. After playing squash, we often have a drink or a small bite with a complimentary bitterball.
The Squash Ladies Night is held once a month on a Thursday from 19:30 to 21:30. Learn new tactics and then play against different ladies; an opponent for every level.
The cost for non-members is €10, which includes a drink and a bitterball.
Members pay £5

For the Gentlemen, a similar evening will be organised on a different Thursday of the month.

Club Championship Match 2018

The club championships are approaching again; on Saturday 24th November, the top spots at Sportclub Match will be contested. The tournament, where sportsmanship and good company are paramount, is open to everyone, so players of all levels are welcome to register. The scheduling will depend on the number of participants, but the committee aims to divide players into categories based on skill level.

Tournament start: 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM

First prize: Squash racket
2nd prize: Squash shoes
3rd prize: Meal for 2 at Thijs

Afterwards, a buffet at the bar with satay, bread, and salad

Dutch evening

Friday 20th April from 5.30 PM until the early hours!! Come to the Dutch Night at Eetcafé Thijs. An evening full of gezelligheid, Dutch music with a live DJ. Sing along to Dutch hits while enjoying a beer, wine, and Dutch (free) snacks like herring, bitterballen, and ossenworst. Beer, soft drinks, and wine are cheaper, and cocktails are €5,- all evening.

Dear squash players and athletes of Match,

It will not have escaped your notice that quite a lot has been changing at Match recently. This is absolutely true. My name is Mathijs van Rijn, and I am the new owner of Sportcentrum Match.

The new name is: Sportclub Match & Eetcafé THIJS

I want to make the catering and squash/sports section of Match a thriving business. To ensure everything runs smoothly, a number of changes and new rules have been put in place. Click on us YouTube video(see also at the bottom) for further clarification regarding the renovation

The main changes/rules at a glance:

  • The squash courts will be sanded and treated
  • Internal walls will be repainted in due course
  • A bar will be installed between Squash and Hospitality (see video for explanation)
  • New furniture at the squash court
  • Watching live sports on TVs (also 2 TVs at the squash court)
  • Sportspeople will no longer be able to enter the hospitality area still sweating (once the new bar has been installed). This does not apply to the squash court.
  • Squash prices have become simpler and cheaper
  • A squash court, lesson or membership will be paid for in advance from now on.
  • Shower and sauna facilities will also be given a “pimp”

I want to emphasise that everyone is welcome at Sportclub Match & Eetcafé THIJS. And I completely understand that some changes take time to sink in. New owner

It's high time I introduced myself...

Hello, my name is Mathijs van Rijn. I have been the new owner of Sportcentrum Match since 1 July 2017. I live nearby with my girlfriend and two children.

The new name is Sportclub Match & Eetcafe Thijs.

All sports will remain, and a few will even be added, such as Yoga and Bellicon.

Firstly, I'm going to tackle the hospitality section; I reckon I'll need a good two months for that. It's also my intention to spruce up the sports facilities. We'll remain open as usual.

I want to make it a cosy, bustling neighbourhood business. Good food and drink at an affordable price. Open 7 days a week, including evenings at the weekend.
